Food came out warm— not hot. Chicken Parmesan was pretty big but not really that good($25) The pasta was called “agnolotti di zucca”($18) it tasted really good but too small of a portion… even 2 more would have been less of a shock to see and might have satisfied me. We got just beard and garlic butter at first because we like to keep it simple and boy did we get simple. That butter had zero flavor and the bread was just regular sourdough (cold-fine). The staff were very nice and willing to fix the situation and offered replacements. For example gave us the whipped ricotta to go with the bread instead which was very good. And to bring a second serving of pasta (I declined). The point is I think these things can be fixed in the kitchen. Atmosphere is a bit loud inside (is there a dumb upstairs?) and looks really nice on the patio.

We started with a cocktail and Lucas was not only extremely friendly, he made us amazing cocktails. The food was fantastic. The square meatballs were so good, I almost ordered a second round for dessert! And as if that wasn’t enough, Wacey went so far above and beyond, I’m pretty sure he is in training for the Olympics of customer service. Gold medal for sure!

Celebrated early Mother's Day. Battalion is my mom's favorite restaurant and for a reason. Mother and son dinner We had a reservation at 7pm, got there a bit early but got seated immediately by the hostess who was very welcoming. Sarah was very friendly and took her time to explain the menu to us. The portions were just perfect. Never had to ask for refills. The manager came to check on us several times. And two other team members delivered our food efficiently. Ambience was perfect. Finished our meal with their new ricotta and goat cheese cheesecake which was rich, creamy and not overly sweet. Definitely recommend Battalion. Excellent night overall.

This restaurant is located in an old firestation with the outside façade being largely preserved. Inside you can see the old fire pole which we were sat next to. The menu's brevity is refreshing as it allows for easier ordering. The menu does change, although there are some staples that are usually available. There is a wide variety of cocktail and wine selections, as well as Ritual non-alcoholic spirits. We had an aperol spritz which was excellent. For our meal we ordered the bread service with whipped ricotta which was fair, although the bread was harder than I'd prefer. For our appetizer we had the spinach dumplings which were phenomenal. I would certainly order them again. For our entrees we had the branzino and spaghetti di gamberi, both of which were excellent. The flavors were complex and unexpected in the best way. The branzino was cooked perfectly, and notably herbaceous. The main drawback was the limited parking. There are lots nearby but as it was an event day, the parking cost was exorbitant. There was also limited parking options so it is best to plan ahead. Overall, it was an excellent experience with great service.

Battalion delivered an outstanding dining experience from start to finish. I was warmly greeted by both the hostess and the servers, which set the tone right away. The ambience was beautiful—low lighting with cool, modern decor. The table setup was minimal yet stylish, adding to the overall vibe. The pacing of the meal was perfect; dishes came out at just the right times without feeling rushed or delayed. The beef tartare was hands down the best I’ve had in San Antonio. The appetizers were equally impressive—especially the spinach dumplings and the trenne bombay. Entrée portions were satisfying and well-balanced, leaving room for dessert. Dessert was delicious, particularly the s’mores panna cotta, though I did wish it had been presented in a more special way given that we were celebrating a birthday. Overall, Battalion offers excellent food, service, and atmosphere, and it’s definitely a place I’d return to.
